Meet Dr. Pia

I was born in Romania, and escaped with my family at the age of five.  My father drove for 68 hours, non-stop, to reach Italy, where we lived in a refugee camp for two years.  The U.S. government had to complete a background check before we could enter the United States.  I arrived in New York at the age of seven.  The world was my oyster.  I graduated from high school at 16, and began my path to becoming the best cosmetic dentist in the world.  I have always reached high, and never given up - despite the obstacles thrown at me.

In dental school, I asked a peer to teach me. He said, "You're either born with it or you’re not." I cried for three days, then signed up for every course I could find. Fourteen years later, I saw him at a lecture where I was a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU. I thanked him; his words pushed me to prove myself.

Always get out of your comfort zone. It is the only way you can elevate to the next level. Never give up no matter what others tell you. Follow your passion and you will succeed.

I think the biggest mistake I made was being naive and believing that all people have good intentions.  I no longer trust anyone until they prove they deserve my trust.  Also, I have learned that employees sometimes do not look out for the best interest of the patents or the business, but look out for themselves.  Accordingly, I have learned all parts of the business and do not delegate things that I should really do myself.  

I have a great deal of appreciation for my parents, and the sacrifices they made to get me out of a communist country at such a young age.  Beyond this sacrifice, I have had to put in the hard work to get where I am today.  I have always worked 65% harder than everyone else; and the satisfaction is 200% higher when you do it all on your own.  I believe that nothing is impossible; you just have to want it and reach for the stars.  

I bring health, happiness and confidence to everyone I touch. A smile is so important from health to self confidence. Transforming peoples smiles brings out the best in people and truly helps them find their inner groove. Self confidence is a very sexy thing if you know how to help people find theirs within. It’s a wonderful feeling for me at the end of everyday. I love to help transform people for the better. If people feel good within they can share that with the rest of the world, hopefully happiness wins over hate.

• Sleep: 8 hours a night keeps me balanced.

• Healthy diet: Organic food, with occasional wine moderation is key.

• Exercise: Strength training 1 hour a day, 5 days a week, with a quick cardio warm-up.

• Vacations: New places bring new energy.

• Balance: make time for joy.  Well being isn't just physical.

• Prioritize exercise.

• Control food portions.

• Adjust with age; what worked at 25 will not work at 45.

• Stay hands-on with your business.

• Trust is earned, not assumed.

I do not believe in radical movements such as veganism.  I think meat in moderation is fine and fish is wonderful.  Moderation and balance is key!
