Smile Makeover in NYC
At Cosmetic Dentistry NYC, Dr. Pia Lieb, DDS, designs every smile makeover based on your existing tooth structure, your bite, and the outcome you want. She has treated cosmetic cases for more than 30 years and holds the title of Clinical Assistant Professor Emerita at NYU College of Dentistry.
What is a smile makeover?
A smile makeover is a sequenced combination of cosmetic dental treatments, not a single procedure. The plan may include porcelain veneers, Invisalign, and laser whitening, selected according to what each tooth requires.
The composition changes from patient to patient. One patient may need alignment corrected before any porcelain is placed. Another may need only shade correction and edge refinement.
Dr. Pia evaluates the full arch, the gum line, and the way the upper and lower teeth meet before recommending any restoration.
What problems does a smile makeover correct?
A smile makeover corrects the aesthetic and structural problems that change the appearance of the front teeth. Dr. Pia treats each concern with the most conservative option that will hold long term.
Common concerns addressed include:
Intrinsic discoloration from tetracycline or other antibiotics, which produces gray or brown staining
Enamel thinning from age, which exposes darker dentin underneath
Misalignment, crowding, or rotated teeth that break the symmetry of the arch
Visible gaps between the front teeth
Worn or shortened teeth caused by grinding and clenching
Uneven incisal edges and irregular tooth lengths
Chips, cracks, and fractures affecting both appearance and function
Which treatments are included in a smile makeover?
Dr. Pia builds smile makeovers from four treatments she performs in her Park Avenue South practice. She refers root canals, extractions, periodontal treatment, and implant placement to specialists in her network.
No-drill handmade porcelain veneers
Dr. Pia's no-drill veneers require zero removal of natural tooth structure. Each veneer is handmade porcelain rather than 3D printed. Because the enamel underneath stays untouched, the restoration is reversible and the veneers can be removed if you choose.
No-drill veneers require proper alignment and occlusion. Patients who do not have that foundation complete Invisalign first.
3D printed veneers
Patients who cannot afford handmade porcelain veneers may select 3D printed veneers. This option requires a minimum of 3 millimeters of natural tooth filing and is not reversible. Filing beyond 5 millimeters risks nerve exposure and a subsequent root canal.
Invisalign
Dr. Pia offers Invisalign as a foundation treatment rather than a standalone cosmetic service. She assesses every patient for Invisalign eligibility as a default step. She does not upcharge on Invisalign, because correct alignment protects the veneer work that follows.
Laser teeth whitening
Laser teeth whitening takes one hour and thirty minutes from start to finish. The protocol uses the strongest hydrogen peroxide concentration available and leaves less natural tooth structure affected than other whitening systems.
How much does a smile makeover cost?
Smile makeover cost depends on the number of teeth treated and the treatments selected. Dr. Pia quotes each component individually so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

$2,500 to $3,500 per tooth

How does the consultation work?
The consultation lasts one hour to one hour and fifteen minutes and is conducted by Dr. Pia personally. A credit card is charged at the time of booking to hold the appointment.
You will be asked to email any existing X-rays before you arrive. The appointment covers a full diagnostic evaluation, X-ray review, an assessment of whether Invisalign is needed first, and a discussion of no-drill versus prep veneer eligibility.
Dr. Pia presents every option and does not pressure a decision. In her words:
“I don't want to hear what you decide.”
What is the office experience like?
Dr. Pia treats one patient at a time. A 15-minute buffer separates every appointment, so patients never encounter one another.
All staff sign non-disclosure agreements. Patient names and likenesses are never used in press or marketing, a policy she has maintained for more than 30 years. Before-and-after photographs appear only with written consent and are cropped to show the mouth alone.
Cosmetic Dentistry NYC operates Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Partners are welcome to accompany you, and pets are welcome.
How do out-of-town patients plan a smile makeover?
Dr. Pia treats patients from New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut, along with national and international patients who travel to Manhattan. France and the United Kingdom are her two largest international sources of inquiry.
Patients traveling for treatment can review the scheduling and logistics detailed for out-of-town patients before booking. Appointments are not available online, because consultation lengths vary by case.
Frequently asked questions about smile makeovers
Timeline depends on the treatments selected. A whitening and veneer case moves faster than a case requiring Invisalign first. Alignment is completed before any porcelain is placed, which extends the overall schedule. Dr. Pia establishes the full sequence during your consultation, after reviewing your X-rays and evaluating your bite, so you know the timeline before you commit to treatment.
